Norwegian law define prostitution as a sexual service or act in return for compensation or payment. Prostitution involves at least two parties: a buyer and a seller. In prostitution, the payment or compensation is a prerequisite for the sexual service.
Buyers and sellers
There are various kinds of prostitution. Most commonly women sell sex to men, and this is what we normally think of as prostitution. However, there are also men and transgender people who sell sex to men, as well as women, men and transgender people who sell sex to women. Also, there are homosexual and heterosexual couples who buy sexual services.
